What level of quality may the customer expect, working with the translation bureau "Doka Translations?
The customer may choose between the basic translation and the translation with technical (or literary) editing.
BASIC TRANSLATION. This translation is completed by a certified translator. Afterward the translation is proofread.
The obligations of the proofreader include checking spelling and punctuation. The translator bears the responsibility for correctly translating.
With a basic translation the quality of the translation is provided by the proven qualifications of the translator. Our translators are regularly tested.
EDITED TRANSLATION. This translation is completed by a certified translator. Afterward the translation is carefully checked by a technical editor (or a literary editor, if the customer desires).
Editing is a time consuming process, which takes as much time to complete as the translation itself. It requires additional time and additional means.
It is not a precursory glance at the translation, but a ponderous, careful proofing of each sentence.
Finally, after the editor finishes, the translation is checked by a proofreader for spelling and punctuation.
Hence, two people participate in the basic translation, the certified translator and the proofreader, while three people participate in the edited translation, the certified translator, the editor and the proofreader.

As a rule, nine times out of ten the customer will be satisfied to choose our basic translation.
The edited translation may be necessary in cases where it is intended to be published in many exemplars, or if a large number of people will read the translation, or if a high standard is required for the translation.
To spend additional time and money on technical (literary) editing makes sense only when it is actually necessary.
Example 1. You want to receive a translation of a technical manual from English into Russian for the subsequent publishing in many copies. In this case it is better to order a technically edited translation.
Example 2. You want to receive a translation of an advertising booklet from English into Russian for subsequent publishing. In this case it is better to order a translation with literary editing.
Example 3. You want to receive a translation of an advertising booklet of especially high quality from Russian into English. The translation done by a Russian translator is not satisfactory for you. It is better for you to order an edited translation, edited by a native English speaker.
Example 4. You need a translation for use within your company for a limited circle of specialists. In this case the basic translation is fully sufficient.
